DIOCESE OF PAGADIAN
Last April 19 – 28, 2004, twenty-nine (29) catechists
coming from the city vicariate and nearby parishes
joined the First Catechetical Summer Program which
was held at the Holy Infant Seminary in Pagadian City,
with the theme “The Catechists In The Third Millennium”.
The first part of the program was focused on the catechists’ spirituality
through different prayer exercises while the rest of
the days were intended to review important areas such
as the Scriptures, Church and Mission, Mariology, Theories
of Human Personality, etc.
The success of the program was credited to the unwavering
support of His Excellency, Most Rev. Edwin Dela Peña,
D.D., M.S.P. (Diocesan Apostolic Administrator of Pagadian),
the Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic
Education, and Sr. Helen Bongolto, RSM (Diocesan Catechetical
Coordinator).
DIOCESE OF
SAN FERNANDO LA UNION
As part of the continuous formation of the catechists
and religious education teachers, the Diocese of
San Fernando La Union conducted a series of seminar – workshops
last summer. The Commission on Christian Education
(CCE) headed by its Director, Fr. Crispin N. Reyes
and CCE Coordinator, Sr. Ma. Florifes C. Bejod,
TDM, initiated the training program. The full support
of the Diocesan Administrator, Rev. Fr. Samuel
Joseph F. Banayat, Jr., and the Parish Priests
played a significant role in the success of the
program.
The
training was given to three groups, namely: a) for
volunteer catechists – which
was held on April 26 -30, 2004 at the St. William
Parish hall with 32 participants; b) for Diocesan
Catechists – which was given in two batches
(for northern Vicariates it was held on May 12 – 14,
2004 at St. Nicolas Academy in Balaon, La Union,
while for the southern Vicariates it was held on
May 19 – 21, 2004 at the Benedictine Prayer
House at San Agustin, Agoo, La Union) with 145 registered
participants; and c) for religious education teachers – held
on May 24 – 26, 2004 at the St. William Parish
Hall in San Fernando City and with 51 REED participants.
The series of seminars,
which was facilitated by the said Commission, culminated
on June 11, 2004 where trainees were commissioned
by their Diocesan Administrator during a concelebrated
mass.
DIOCESE OF
KIDAPAWAN
Through the initiative
of the Diocesan Formation Team headed by Mrs. Jeanne
A. Bayod, Sr. Lalyn C. Macahilo, OND (Christian Formation
Coordinator) and as well as through the untiring
support of His Excellency, Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles,
D.D. the diocese had a two-and-a-half day orientation
seminar on the proper use of the Catechism for Filipino
Catholics (CFC).
The sixty-six (66)
participants were composed of selected catechists
from the different parishes and formation heads from
the parish and diocesan level.
The aim of the orientation-seminar
was to introduce the book (CFC) to the catechists
and formators and as well as equip them with more
knowledge regarding the basic principles on how to
use it effectively as a tool for catechizing and
for the integral faith formation of the Filipino
Catholics.
The seminar was held
at the convention hall of Guadalupe Formation Center
in Balindog, Kidapawan City on April 25 – 28,
2004, with Mrs. Constantina Arrogante as the main
facilitator.
