ECCCE Launches Website
The
Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education
(ECCCE) of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines
(CBCP) launched on April 2, 2004 its own website, www.eccceonline.org.
The commission's formal entry into the worldwide web
signals its commitment to more effectively link together
all those who work for the ministries of catechesis
and catholic education, by providing all the information
and communication tools they need to perform their mission
with more ease and greater knowledge.
The ECCCE website has a comprehensive content. Through
the website catechists, educators and laypeople can
gain access to all the catechetical modules and materials
that have been prepared by the diocesan catechetical
and formation centers in the country, and are presented
in English, Pilipino and in their native dialect. It
contains a listing of all member schools of the Catholic
Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) and
the local educational associations in dioceses all over
the country.
The website is one of the innovative ways that the
commission is fulfilling its mandated task to assist
and serve the dioceses on all aspects of the catechetical
and religious education ministries, including the presentation
of new trends, programs, and materials that will help
catechists and catholic educators do their work more
effectively.
The launching ceremony which was held at four-thirty
in the afternoon at the ECCCE office at the CBCP building
in Intramuros, Manila was graced with the presence of
CBCP President Archbishop Fernando R. Capalla, together
with CBCP Secretary General Monsignor Hernando M. Coronel,
ECCCE Chairman Bishop Socrates B. Villegas, ECCCE Vice-
Chairman Bishop Sofronio A. Bancud, and ECCCE Executive
Secretary Monsignor Gerardo O. Santos.
The launching served as a gift to His Eminence Jaime
L. Cardinal Sin, Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese
of Manila, who celebrated his golden jubilee as a priest
on April 3. Cardinal Sin's staunch support of catechetical
programs and catholic schools has paved the way for
the development and expansion of catechetical programs
in the Archdiocese of Manila.
