GROUP OF MANILA

Recommendations:

  • National Level

    1. Update Curriculum Integrating the following
      • Integrity of Creation
      • Respect for Women
      • Justice and Peace
      • Inter-religion dialogue
      • Counseling service skills in view of our students who are children of OCWs
    1. Integrate Immersion Program in the curriculum
    2. Update formation for volunteer catechists

 

GROUP OF Bayombong, Ilagan & Lucena

Recommendations:

  1. Faculty Formation
  • We revised the curriculum /year in line with the Basic source of our faith such as CCC, CFC, PCP II, NCDP, Encyclicals.
  • We also have faculty development program intended for Religious Education in view of approaches as well as content.
  • Faculty upgrades their qualification by attending programs CETREL, graduates and post-graduates in Religious Education
  • We continuously update by attending local, national and international seminar.
  1. Linkages
  • Our faculties are members of professional organization in Religious Education such as CARE, SMP, ICSS, ARER.
  1. Resources – funds is always the problem they give.
  2. Support – recommendation: It is good that schools should offer scholarship

SUGGESTIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS

Local:

  • have support not only morally but financially.
  • Screening of faculty qualification
  • To organize Religious Education in Region

National:

  • more linkages
  • more empowerment

CATECHIST

  1. Formation
  • trained by priests/seminarians
  • on-going seminar by inviting guest lectors for the school and the catechist are very willing to be trained.
  1. Resources – fund is always a problem
  2. Support – moral support

Recommendations:

  1. More trainings
  2. To develop linkages between local & national

 

GROUP OF OP Sienna, St. Paul QC , St. Joseph , Kalookan

 

Recommendations:

  1. Faculty Formation
  • Most of the RE Programs have update curriculum.
  • There is a need for a continued updating of RE curriculum by adding Theology subjects is required by CHED ( Siena, QC)
  • There is a need to intensify the basic function program for catechists ( St. Joseph).
  • There is a need to adjust the program to the call of times and to have inculturated materials ( SPC, QC)
  • Emphasis is on CFC rather than CCC. CCC is abstract and detached from the life of the students. GDC (1997) does not give a clear definition of RE. GCD (1971) is better than GDC.
  • FIRE responds to the call of the times by:
    • training students going to be coordination
    • offering Doctorate in Ministry to those who wish to go beyond the MA level
  1. Resources
  • Diocese of Kalookan is supported by the Bishop, Clergy, Catholic schools, e.g. Our Lady of Consolacion and Metrobank
  • Most RE programs are supported by schools and in same by the provincialate. One gets international funding (MISSIO)
  • RE programs give free tuition fee and board and lodging to some students.
  • FIRE has built up the library through the years. This library is used by thesis writers.
  1. Support
  • Moral support from parents and clergy
  • Bishops is used by thesis writers

Recommendations:

    • The accreditation is a step forward in RE.
    • There is a need for a more collaboration and greater cooperation among different RE programs and institutions.
    • The need for sharing resources, both human and material, from different RE programs and institutions.

GROUP OF Tarlac, Nueva Segovia, Cabanatuan, Lucena, San Fernando, La Salle-Dasmarinas

On Formation

  • Curriculum is updated based on CFC, CCC and GDC

LUCENA & SBI

  • The on-going formation of graduates is taken care of by the Dioceses where they are assigned.
  • Monthly on-going formation for the catechists in the Diocesan Level
  • Formation is adjusted to the call of the times
    • contemporary moral issues
    • globalization
    • Issue-oriented training

LA SALLE – DAMARINAS

  • outreach program in coordination with the diocesan catechetical program
  • La Salle offer the following program
  • Basic orientation program for the volunteer catechists of the diocese
  • Two-year program
  • MA Program
  • Professors from different departments render 2-hours/week – catechesis in the Public Schools

SAN FERNANDO

  • Offer BSE major in Religious Education
  • Outreach Program – giving catechetical instructions in public schools

LUCENA

  • 10-month training for catechists
  • Modular week-end training for 4 months. This serves as on-going formation for other catechists.

CABANATUAN

  • 2 priests are now studying in Lou vain, Belgium for special studies in catechetics.

TARLAC

  • Two-year non credit program (The on-going formation is taken care of by the Dioceses where the catechists are assigned.

RESOURCES

CABANATUAN – minimal allotted budget for catechists

LUCENA – Local Funds

Propagation of the Faith

+ 10% of the income of the Diocese

+ Php 10.00/year/student

+ 10% of the income of the parish

LA SALLE – 1% from the tuition fee is given to the outreach program

  • income from concerts participated by the professors.

TARLAC – Funding Agency – Missio Aachen + Local Benefactors

ST. BENEDICT INSTITUTE – Missio Aachen but the students pay Php 1,200.00 a month for board & lodging. They buy their own guitar, books & uniform.

SAN FERNANDO – All Local Funds

Note: The Catechetical Materials of Lucena are produced by the MCST and they have an on-going construction of additional building.

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • Establishment of a catechetical center in San Fernando
  • That Parish Priests be supportive of the catechetical program.
  • That there will be regular meetings in the Regional level.
  • That catechetical funds be created through partnership between the schools and the Diocese. e.g. the gain of the books in school will be given to the Diocese for Catechetical fund.
  • That we go back to the basics of religion instruction
  • That Priests may have a re-orientation of their lifestyle so a certain amount could be given to the catechetical fund.
  • That catechetical centers/institutes bring the formation in the parish level
  • That catechetical materials be produced.

GROUP OF VISAYAS & MINDANAO

Recommendations:

  • Production of catechetical materials for family & adults in national & regional level.
  • Modules for on-going formation for volunteer catechists in national & regional level
  • Strengthening of organizational structures coordination in the Ecclesiastical & regional level.
  • Sharing of materials & resources.
  • Encourage the diocese within ecclesiastical province to send student scholars for professional training in our catechetical centers.

Funds:

  1. National Level to help subsidize the catechetical centers for their maintenance.
  2. Yearly gathering of catechetical centers with Rel. Ed. Heads of the colleges/universities.

BICOL REGION GROUP

  1. Recommendations for action on the Regional level.
  • On Formation
  • Intensive formation of volunteer catechists will be at the Caceres Catechetical Center (CCC)
  • Common Formation Program for the Region
  • Catechetical Immersion/Observation for the Diocesan to other dioceses in the Region.
  • Catechists’ Welfare
  • Initiatives from each Diocese
  • Funding for Regional Activities – An annual quota from each Diocese
  1. Recommendations for action on the National level.
  • To strengthen communio, we recommend that the meetings be done by Islands ( Luzon, Visayas & Mindanao) their the National Convention be done on the 4 th year.

GROUP OF Infanta, Auxilum Catechetical Center, Diocesan Catechetical Center of Antipolo, Colegio de Buen Consejo, Diocesan Catechetical Center of Malolos, Mother of Life Center, Catechetical Center of Columban College – Zambales

Recommendations:

  1. Regional/Diocesan Level
  • To encourage parishes/diocese to send catechists for formal education/training/formation to centers & institutes/schools
  • To encourage parishes/dioceses to help catechists & support them in cash or in kind.
  • To establish centers for linkages and networking within the diocese/region.
  • To look into each center’s formation programs for continuous updating of curriculum, etc.
  1. ECCCE
  • To continue coordinate and pool resources (material & human) and make accessible/available to members of ECCCE
  • To provide training for catechist coordinators
